Money, explained calmly.
A free place to learn how personal finance actually works — one calm, plain-language step at a time. No jargon, no judgment, and nothing to sign up for.
What this is
Money Field Guide is a free personal-finance education resource for people in the US. It takes the things many of us were never taught — budgeting, banking, credit, debt, taxes, benefits, insurance, and investing — and explains them in calm, everyday language you can work through at your own pace.
It’s for anyone who wants to feel steadier about money, at any age or income, whether you’re starting from scratch or filling in gaps. If money has ever felt stressful or easy to put off, this was built with you in mind — and if it hasn’t, you’re just as welcome. It’s simply a clear, unhurried place to learn.
How to use it
📚 Weekly lessons
Twenty-six short lessons, taken in order or however you like. Each ends with a few reflection prompts — there are no grades, no tests, and no streaks.
📝 Worksheets
Fill-in worksheets that save privately on your device as you type. Come back to them anytime, or print them if you prefer paper.
🧭 Help
“I have a problem right now” playbooks — medical bills, scams, car buying, and more — plus trusted official sources. Search across everything.
💬 Ask a question
An optional assistant that answers from the lessons and points you to the right one. It runs on your own free Google key — the page walks you through setup.
You can also see gentle progress as you go — private to your device, with no streaks or guilt.
Why it’s safe to use
- Education, not advice. Everything here is general financial education — not personalized financial, legal, tax, or investment advice. When a decision has real stakes, it points you to the right professional or official source rather than telling you what to do.
- What you write stays on your device. Your worksheet answers, reflections, and progress are saved only in your own browser, on your device. There’s no account and no server behind this site, so we never receive or store any of it — and a one-tap “clear my data” wipes it whenever you want.
- The assistant is optional and direct. If you use it — or ask for AI feedback on a reflection — that text goes straight from your browser to Google using your own key, only when you choose to, and never through us. You can skip it entirely and still use everything else.
The one exception is the optional topic request form: a message you choose to send there is delivered through a form service rather than staying on your device. Everything else — lessons, worksheets, reflections, progress — never leaves your device through us.
